How to get to Saint Martin

Every guest reaches Saint Martin's by sea. There is no airstrip and no bridge. The journey is straightforward once you know the order of it, and the whole thing takes a day.

1. Get to Cox's Bazar

From Dhaka this is either a one-hour flight or an overnight bus of about ten hours. The bus leaves Dhaka in the evening and reaches Cox's Bazar early morning, which lines up well with the ship — a flight the same morning usually does not.

2. Register for a travel pass

You cannot buy a ship ticket without one. Registration is online through the Bangladesh Tourism Board's authorised portal, and the ticket you receive carries a code the jetty staff check. A ticket without it is not accepted.

Do this before you travel. The daily number of visitors to the island is capped, so passes for popular dates run out.

3. Board the ship at Nuniyachhara

Ships for Saint Martin's leave from the BIWTA jetty at Nuniyachhara in Cox's Bazar. The Teknaf route is not running this season.

Departures are in the morning and the exact time moves with the tide, so check the day before rather than relying on last week's timetable. The crossing takes around three hours. Return sailings leave the island in the afternoon.

4. Walk to Delpara

Fantasy Hotel & Resort is at Delpara, about ten minutes from the jetty. It is an easy walk, or a van if you have luggage. Add a jetty porter to your booking and we will meet you off the ship.

What to have with you

  • Your NID or passport — every adult needs one, at the jetty and at check-in
  • Your travel pass and ship ticket
  • Cash. Card signal on the island drops often, and most places take notes only
  • Sandals you can walk on coral in

Getting back

Ships leave the island in the afternoon, and there is only one a day on most routes. Check-out is at 11:00 AM and we will hold your bags until you sail. Do not plan a flight out of Cox's Bazar the same evening — if the sea turns, the ship does not run.
